Yellowstone August 2, Part 3 (Canyon n West Thumb)

Canyon
We missed the entrance to the best spot to see the canyon and water fall....instead, we went real close to the waterfall.



Yah I know it's not a big waterfall, but this place is not famous of its waterfall, but the canyon. I didn't get a chance to see the canyon.

West Thumb Geyser Basin
the difference between geysers and hot springs is that water in the geysers is squeezed underground and there forced to erupt which makes a tall water beam in the air like a water fountain.

The color difference is caused by the different kinds of bacterium living there because of the different pH value of the water.

p.s.
At the West Thumb we noticed a forest fire at the other side of the lake. It reminds me the Yellowstone Fire of 1988. This fire burned down 36% of the forest in the whole national park and caused losses of human and animal lives. This year is the 20th anniversary of this huge fire.

I hope this fire won't cause alot of damages to the national park.


Mud Volcano

It's not a real volcano. It's just another geyser but it erupts mud instead of water.....so.....it stinks more......really....it stinks....imagine....u hv a boiled egg n leave it a container for 1 week....then smell it.....or someone frats in ur face......
